Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Education kicked off their first back-to-school tour called #ReThinkSchools! The purpose of this tour is highlight the innovative and groundbreaking work happening in schools across America. The “Rethink School” tour will showcase creative ways in which education leaders are meeting the needs of students in K-12 and higher education.

The Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, will be speaking at each school about how too many kids are trapped in schools that don’t meet their needs and how a family’s income or ZIP code shouldn’t dictate the quality of education a child is to receive!

The first stop on the #ReThinkSchool Tour was Woods Learning Center, a public elementary through middle school in Casper, WY. They believe school should be a personalized and meaningful experience for all of our students, where they become motivated and empowered to pursue their own goals and dreams. The school is led by a collaborative team of teachers and staff rather than a principal. They are teacher-powered, and student-centered.

It’s time to re-think what education means to each individual student and to re-think what it means to engage students in a life-long learning journey and prepare for successful careers and lives.

It’s time to #ReThinkSchool!
